Katy Perry Overthrows Justin Bieber as MOST FOLLOWED Person on Twitter
Pop Singer, Katy Perry has overtaken Justin Bieber as the most followed person on Twitter.
The latest figures show the US singer has 46,534,966 followers compared to the Canadian teen star’s 46,510,838, and there are indications Perry would be the first to get to 50 million.
A blog monitoring twitter counts said: “Bieber has been quite active on his profile as he’s on tour in Brazil, but Perry hasn’t tweeted since October, so expect a little more action once she gets back on the train.”
Justin Bieber took Twitter’s top spot from Lady Gaga in January and passed the 40 million Twitter follower mark in June though a report from earlier this year suggested that around 50% of Bieber’s followers could be fake.
T he blog also added: “If history has taught us anything about number one placement on Twitter, it’s that once you’ve been leap-frogged by another user you never get it back again.”
According to monitoring website twittercounter.com, Lady Gaga, Barack Obama and Taylor Swift are in spots three, four and five on Twitter’s most followed list.
