Nigeria Police authority on Thursday, said the British High Commission in Nigeria confirmed that Senator Buruji Kashamu was arrested and tried in a United Kingdom Criminal court.
This was said in a statement issued by the Police Spokesman, CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, in Abuja.
According to the police, there was an enquiry concerning the status of Kashamu’s legal battles in the United Kingdom and United States.
It stated: “The police, thereafter, sought relevant clarifications from the British High Commission.
“The commission confirmed that Kashamu was indeed arrested and tried in the United Kingdom criminal court. But the court was not satisfied that Kashamu had a case to answer”.
The statement however said that the commission’s clarification did not derogate from extradition request by United States’ relevant departments, and agencies of government in Nigeria”.
