The Deputy minority leader of the Kano State House of Representatives, Hon Kawu Sumaila, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is at risk of losing the governorship election in the state in 2015 due to imposition of an unpopular candidate by party leaders.

Sumaila, who was speaking while inaugurating a committee of delegates for his campaign ahead of the party’s December 4 primary election, urged his supporters to make sure the APC was not run like the PDP as it was formed to bring political and leadership change in Nigeria.

He said: “The entire world is witnessing political change as a result of prolonged injustice at all levels, our party leaders must, as a matter of necessity, provide level playing field for all aspirants so that the peoples’ will is manifested in the coming primary election.

“We should not be too quick to forget what happened to us in the defunct All Nigeria’s People’s Party in 2011, when former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau hand-picked his anointed candidate who was eventually defeated at the polls.”
