Justin Bieber Apologises for Racial Taunt in Leaked Video
Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber has apologised after a five-year-old video showing him telling a racist joke was published by Britain’s The Sun on sunday.
In the video, the then 15-year-old Bieber can be seen telling a joke about black people that has a racist tone to it. He asks his friends: “Why are black people afraid of chainsaws?”
He then mimics the noise of a chainsaw by saying “Run … nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger”, after the voice of one of his friends is heard appealing to him not to say the racial slur.
20-year-old Bieber, in his statement, said when he was younger and didn’t realise how certain words could hurt. He said he learned from his mistakes and apologised for them, and now is apologising again because they have become public.
He said ignorance has no place in our society and he hoped that others wouldn’t make the same mistake that he had.
