Jonathan To Buhari: Probe Obasanjo, IBB And Others
By Adetokunbo Fakeye
President Goodluck Jonathan has urged the incoming administration of Maj Gen. Muhammadu Buhari not to narrow his intended probe to his government alone, but to all governments since 1960.
The out-going president made this call on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) valedictory session he presided over.
Jonathan at the meeting noted that he was aware of the calls by some Nigerians on Buhari to probe him.
According to him, if the incoming administration would be sincere, it should not probe his government alone.
Mr. President emphasised that it would be a witch-hunt to probe only his administration.
“There are many things to be probed ranging from the debts owed by the states and the debts owed by the country from 1960 till date and this, include allocation of oil blocs allocated in Nigeria.
“Some people are even calling for the probe of the government, but I think in Nigeria, there are a lot of many things that will be probed, very many things, even debts owed by states and debts owed by this country from 1960 up to this time. They say it is Jonathan’s administration that owes these debts.
“I believe that anybody that is coming for probe must also ensure that this probe is extended beyond the Jonathan administration. Otherwise, to me, it will be witch-hunt. If we are very sincere, it is not only the Jonathan administration that should be probed,” he said.
