Jigawa state Deputy Governor Dumps PDP for APC
The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Ahmad Mahmud, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, along with some of Governor Lamido’s loyalists.
The defectors were accepted into the party on Monday by the chairman of the party, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar and other APC chieftains in the state at his Gumel ward.
Mahmud’s defection was followed by uproar by PDP supporters who were surprised by the defection, describing it as “betrayal of trust.”
According to reports, some other politicians expected to defect to the APC are two former governors of the state, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and Ali Saad Birnin-Kudu, a former Senator, Bello Maitama, some serving commissioners, special advisers and special assistants.
