Isiaka Blames Amosun For Neglecting Rural Communities
Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has described the neglect of the rural communities in the state as “irresponsible and insensitivity” of the current administration to the plight of the majority of the people in the state who are rural dwellers.
Isiaka, who also blamed Governor Ibikunle Amosun for the strike being embarked upon by the teachers in the state wondered why the government could not honour agreement with them and other civil servants in the state.
He, however, pleaded with the teachers and workers, who he noted had been dehumanised by the government not to lose hope as his government will accord them their rightful place in his government.
Reacting to the demands by the Council of Baales and village heads at Yewa South Local Council in Ilaro, Ogun State on Friday that met with him at Orona Hall, Isiaka assured them that development of rural communities especially rural roads will be giving priority by his administration.
The Chairman of the Council, Chief Olubisi Akinola had expressed their concerns over the deplorable roads in the rural communities which he said had crippled economic activities in those areas and responsible for rural-urban drift.
Akinola pleaded with Isiaka to help develop rural communities in the state and reduce the suffering of the rural dwellers. He said, “there are maternity centres that nurses and doctors have stopped working because of lack of accessible roads”.
While assuring them of looking into their plights, Isiaka said, “We cannot develop our economic potentials in the state if we abandon our rural communities especially the roads that link them to the cities. It is irresponsible of any government to think all that is necessary is to build bridges where they are not necessary.
“We shall run a responsible government that takes people’s input and do projects that are desirable for them”
Isiaka, who also prayed with Moslem faithful at Ilaro Central Mosque said, he came to the mosque to thank God for emerging as the PDP candidate, promising to return to the mosque after May 29 for a Special thanksgiving when he would have been sworn in as the governor of the state.
The Chief Imam of Ilaro Central mosque Alhaji Tajudeen Adewunmi urged Isiaka to remain a God-faring politician and stand by the people. The cleric, who said he could attest to the humility and integrity of Isiaka and his ability to turn around the fortunes of the state, urged him to remain focused and put God first in all his endeavours.
