Isiaka Bemoans Death Of 12 Ogun Varsity Students

Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last election, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka has described as “unfortunate” the ghastly vehicle accident that claimed the lives of about 12 students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) at Shagamu/Benin Expressway, Ogun State on Friday and commiserated with parents of the victims and management of the institution.
Isiaka, popularly known as GNI, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Comrade Ifekayode Akinbode said he was particularly pained as a father and political leader in the state to see the lives of young undergraduates with brighter future being wasted by a reckless driver who did not have respect for the traffic rules, bemoaned the seemingly laxity of traffic control managers in ensuring strict compliance to traffic rules by drivers.
“My heart bleeds and particularly pained to hear of this bad incident. It is an avoidable accident because if what was reported in the media was true, the driver of the truck that rammed into the bus that conveyed the students drove against traffic and this questioned the effectiveness of men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corpse (TRACE).
“If the men of the state traffic management agency had been dormant because of non-payment of their salaries, lack on incentives and facility to effectively discharge their duties, the same can not be said of men of FRSC. I hereby call for full investigation on how the incident happened to forestall future occurrence”, he said.
GNI as he is fondly called also tasked the men of FRSC to always ascertain the mental ability of some of the truck drivers before issuing or renewing their driver’s license.
