INEC Officials Caught In Osun Diverting Ballot Papers
Two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Otan-Ile, Obokun Local Government Area were earlier this morning (around 3am) arrested for diverting sensitive election materials NigerianEcho has learnt. One of the suspects, Electoral Officer for the LGA confessed to the act but refused to name those who sent him as he pleaded for mercy. However, he did not deny when confronted that he was sighted inside a vehicle allegedly belonging to a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP stalwart in Obokun, Chief Francis Ade Fadahunsi yesterday . His phone call log also showed clearly that he has had constant voice and SMS communication with the PDP chieftain.
The INEC Officials were almost lynched but for the intervention of police officers, an eye witness told NigerianEcho . The INEC vehicle with registration number FG816V01 used in transporting the materials and the suspects involved are presently held at the State CID of the Police Command in Osogbo at the moment.
