IGP restates Commitment to Peaceful Polls
The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has said the Nigerian police force is determined to ensure peaceful and hitch-free Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections across the country on April 11.
The IGP released a statement via the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, in Abuja on Wednesday, saying any attempt by anyone to cause trouble before, during and after the poll, would not be taken lightly by men of the force.
He also said that the force had identified volatile areas in the geopolitical zones and sued for peace and accord during the polls.
He urged party leaders, members and supporters to vote and shun violence, saying the force will not tolerate any party’s excesses.
