IGP Arase orders Tight Security ahead of May 29 Handover
The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered that security measures be increased across the country by officers ahead of the May 29 inauguration.
The Police Spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, issued a directive in Abuja on Thursday, to all Zonal AIGs and Commissioners of Police, ordering the protection of all critical infrastructure like mega filling stations, major hotels, National/State Houses of Assembly, and Eagle Square.
The directive is a measure by the IG to guard against possible plans by terrorists to perpetrate attacks in public places ahead of the inauguration.
The statement also claimed that the police had strategies to secure the public and also sought the people’s support and co-operation.
