IG warns against foreign domestic help

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase has warned Nigerians against employing foreigners as domestic helps.
According to him, they are difficult to trace when they abscond with their employers’ property or children.
Arase made this known at Mega Town Hall Meeting with stakeholders at the Redemption Camp in Ogun State.
The programme tagged, Security Awareness and Personal Workplace Safety, organized by Ogun State branch of the Police Community Relations Committee.
He said, “we do not have anything against people from Ghana or Cotonu but if you want to employ domestic workers,ensure that they are Nigerians so that when they escape (with your property), you will know where to find him or her, you can even meet with your Divisional Police Officer to know whether he or she had committed a crime elsewhere before you employ one.”
The IG said, “people will travel for the Easter. It is not a must you get to your destination same day, when night falls, you can park your car and sleep in an hotel.
“Easter is like Christmas. Do not open your door to anybody that brings a hamper it could contain an explosive device, do not give criminal opportunities, children will also visit recreational places, parents should watch over them so that they will not be tricked with ice creams”.
