I am Still in PDP- Oyinlola
Following the merger of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, otherwise known as nPDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, there has been rumours that 
the National Secretary of PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola has also joined APC.
The speculation was as a result of his role in the defunct nPDP. Oyinlola was also the secretary of the break away nPDP. Oyinlola has come out to clear the air on his position saying he remains in PDP.
In a statement issued in Abuja today, Wednesday, and signed by his Principal Secretary, Femi Adelegan, Oyinlola said he remains the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and will continue to lay claim to his legal and valid status as the National Secretary of the party.
The statement reads: “Although Prince Oyinlola acknowledges that the PDP has a crisis on its hands, he is, however , not relinquishing his mandate as the National Secretary of the PDP to go along with a merger with another party. That mandate to serve the PDP was given overwhelmingly by all PDP members across all divides in the country and same has been revalidated by the Court of Appeal.
“He has, thus urged PDP members to be steadfast and pray for the party in these trying times while promising to use his position as National secretary with his experience in crisis management to help in rescuing the party from the self inflicted crisis”, the statement added.
The statement explained that Oyinlola’s purported suspension does not invalidate his substantive position as PDP National Secretary and that the former Osun state governor is resolutely committed to leadership through dedicated and selfless service, as well as rising to challenges and the responsibilities of any office he is privileged to occupy legitimately; as these virtues have become his second nature.
It added that Oyinlola, who was elected at the PDP National Convention of March 24, 2012, and confirmed by the report of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on the exercise, as well as the Court of Appeal, through its judgment on November 6, 2013, will at all times strive to uphold truth, absolute honesty and unimpeachable respect for the Rule of Law and constitutionalism.
The stated also made it known that Oyinlola is deeply encouraged by the demonstration of solidarity by well-meaning Nigerians, locally and abroad; who have continued to call to commend him for his indomitable spirit, endurance, courage and the dutiful manner with which he has continued to respond to the political problems of the PDP.
