I am committed to excellent performance in one year after inauguration – Oyegbola-Sodipo
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate for Abeokuta North Local Government in the upcoming local council election in Ogun State, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, has affirmed his commitment to deliver excellent and outstanding service within one year of being in office.
Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo, while fielding questions from journalists after the candidates screening at the OGISEC office in Abeokuta on Thursday, October 10, 2024 stated that a recent comment credited to him that he will resign if the council area did not witness transformation within one year after inauguration, was to set high expectations for him and his team.
According to Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, the comment was his way of signing a performance bond ahead of his assuming the office, stating that the comment underscored his commitment to serve the people of Abeokuta North LGA excellently and with the whole of his heart.
He said his life-long commitment and passion for selfless service and excellence remain sacrosanct, stressing that making a positive difference on the lives of others gave him more joy.
Oyegbola-Sodipo restated that as someone with good knowledge of the needs of the grassroots, he would ensure a robust working relationship with the legislative arm of the local government, as well as carrying every stakeholder along in order to deliver good governance and transformative development in Abeokuta North Local Government.
He stated further that the executive and legislative arms of the local government would foster a healthy working relationship and deepen the ‘Ise Ya’ development programme of the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to make Abeokuta North Local Government a poster for other local government areas in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“Definitely. That is why I am not standing alone. I understand what it means to succeed. Success is not a one-man affair. The local government structure is a well-established democratic structure. There are councilors who form the legislative arm. There is the executive arm led by the chairman. The councilors will carry out their responsibilities by ensuring we perform. If they play their part and I play my part, and we continue to push the ISE YA Agenda of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Governor of Ogun State, definitely in one year, Abeokuta North Local Government will be a different ball game,” he enthused.
Continuing, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo said, “You can already see that from day one. There is a popular saying that morning shows the day; we are already carrying everybody along from the word go. It is not a one-man show. I believe we can all do it together and succeed together.
