The House of Representatives has obstructed the proposed sack of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, ahead of the general election on March 28.

The House, passed a motion on Tuesday, stating that any individual or association who sought to remove Prof. Jega as the INEC chairman ahead of the polls would be held accountable.

It also binds the federal government or any other agency from tampering with the present status quo of the conduct of the election.

The motion, before its passage, was opposed by the deputy House Leader, Rep Leo Ogor, who said the motion was speculative as nobody is out for Jega’s removal at this time.
