HID AWOLOWO’S BURIAL :POLICE FORTIFY SECURITY COMMITTEE
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge zone 2 lagos AIG Bala Hassan on friday had a meeting with the security sub-committee of the late mama Awolowo’s burial committee in the office of the commissioner of police ogun state Eleweran Abeokuta.
The Committee, which has been set up by the state Government of Ogun state, amongst other committees, comprises the Assistant Inspector General of Police zone 2 lagos(comprising Lagos and Ogun commands) AIG Bala Hassan, as the chairman, Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, senior police officers, some members of the Awolowo family,security agencies in Ogun state, top Government functionaries including CP Olayinka Balogun(rtd), consultant on security to the state Government.
It will be recalled that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, had promised of adequate security before, during and after the burial rites of mama HID Awolowo during his condolence visit to the family of Awolowo in Ikenne – remo in Ogun State recently.
In the light of the IGPs commitment to having proper planning on security, he has mandated the AIG ZONE 2 lagos to head the committee and incorporate relevant stakeholders to assist the police in providing adequate security during the mamas burial rites in November.
The committee, led by the chairman, AIG Bala Hassan, had visited the Ikenne residence of the Awolowos and Ikenne town in general to have on-the-spot-assessment of the environment towards adequate deployment of security operatives before, during and after the burial ceremony.
The committee will meet again on monday 5th October, 2015 to solidify the security arrangement on ground and brainstorm on other security strategies to be adopted with a view to meeting and incorporating those groups and individuals that are relevant in the planning.
