Gunmen Raid Gombe Police Stations, Bank
Suspected Boko Haram gunmen have reportedly attacked two policemen and a bank in the northern town of Bajoga, Gombe state, NigerianEcho has learnt.
The gunmen, it was gathered raided their targeted locations with guns and bombs and the raid lasted several hours from yesterday into the early hours of today.
A police spokesperson, Ahmed Mohammed who confirmed the attack said the attackers came with bombs and assault riffles to attack the police facilities. Ahmed however added that they were engaged in a shootout by the police officers on duty during the attack.
“There were bombings and gun attacks on the area command and divisional police station in Bajoga town by some gunmen.
“They attacked these police facilities with IEDs and assault rifles. There was a shootout between the attackers and the policemen at the facilities,” Muhammed explained.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen who also attacked a branch of one of the new generation banks came with guns and explosives and their operation lasted till around 1:00 am.
