Gunmen kill 2 police men, abduct 2 Lebanese in Bayelsa

Unknown gunmen on Wednesday killed two policemen and abducted two Lebanese in Onuegbum, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
The policemen, attached to Pache Construction Company, employers of the abducted Lebanese, met their untimely death when the gunmen said to be eight in number arrived the community in two speed boats through the water way and start shooting sporadically into the air on arriving at the sand dredging site and they responded.
In the commotion, the hails of bullets from the gunmen an eyes witness said, killed the two policemen. Two Lebanese later identified as, Sarki Abi Chmouli and Ibrahim Abi Pherem were abducted.
Confirming the incident, Bayelsa Police Command spokesperson, SUPOL Astimin Butswat, informed that the remains of the slain policemen have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre mortuary for autopsy. He also confirmed the abduction of the two expatriates.
“We have alerted the marine component of the Police, the Joint Task Force and the Navy about the incident in other to track down the perpetrators”. He said.
