Gunmen Attack Security Location In Yobe State

Gunmen, suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, On Sunday attacked a security location in Ngelzarma community of Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Witnesses said the sect members first launched attack on a military check point in the town at about 6:00pm local time.

There was gun battle between the gunmen and security forces in an effort to repel the attack.

Ngelzarma is 40 kilometres west of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital and located on the Damaturu-Potiskum-Kano highway.

Commissioner of Police in Yobe, Sanusi Rufai, who confirmed the incident, said the sect members launched attack at the security location in the town.

Earlier on same day, the sect members detained at SSS headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja had attempted to carry out a jail break. In the process cross fire ensued and no fewer than 20 members of the terrorists sect lost their lives.
