Group Hails Sanwo-Olu on Red Line Rail
Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG) has hailed the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the successful take-off of the Lagos Red Line Rail. The convener of the group, Razaq Olokoba, told NigerianEcho that the project would enhance the economy of the state, reduce drastically travel time on the axis and ensure safety of the people.
Olokoba said, “The blue line rail was a success and we are optimistic that this redline rail would also be a huge success, this in line with plans to make Lagos an enviable mega city. This highly commendable achievement will further enhance the economic activities of the State as well as reduce travel time in that corridor while guaranteeing the safety of the people.
” The capacity to enhance the living standard of the people has also been demonstrated at this peculiar time and this stands him out as an asset to this Nation
” A lot of the citizens are obviously proud of him; his handling of affairs of Lagos has earned him a corner in the heart of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is because he has made Lagos, the commercial nerve Centre of the Nation stable despite the challenges we are going through in the Country. This will remain indelible in the annals of Nigeria.”
Sanwo-Olu said, the train, when fully operational, will run 37 trips and convey about 500,000 passengers daily.
“As part of the inter-modal connectivity of our public transportation infrastructure, the Red Line is integrated with Bus Terminals at Ikeja, Oshodi, Oyingbo, Yaba and Iju.
“To guarantee the safety of commuters and Lagosians, the rail corridor has 10 vehicular overpasses and pedestrian bridges to separate the train from vehicular and pedestrian traffic.”
Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the rail project would change the “face of public transportation” in Nigeria.
