Governor Mimiko defects to PDP!
Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has announced his official defection from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mimiko, who made the declaration at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, said his defection was in order to gather support for President Jonathan’s re-election in the South-West zone of the country.
Mimiko was received into the PDP at the reconciliation meeting of the South West PDP chaired by the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, and was welcome into the party by Vice President, Dr Namadi Sambo.
Mimiko also revealed members of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly from Ondo State formerly under the platform of the Labour Party have also defected with him.
“By this decision to return to the PDP, we have taken in the overall interest of our people and our nation, and its democracy which for those who are perceptive enough to notice, is now mortally endangered by a constellation of forces which must be confronted,” he said.
