‎Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Gombe State, on Saturday has ordered Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to expedite action on the reproduction of necessary documents requested by lawyers to prosecute their petitions before it.

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Mathew Adewara gave the order at the pre-hearing season of the petition.

The chairman gave the order following the complaints by the counsel to Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya and APC, (petitioners against the victory of Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo), Mr. Adeniyi Akintola (SAN).

Akintola had told the tribunal that, they had made several efforts for the INEC to serve them with some of the viral documents to be use before the tribunal.

According to him, they were served with some and denied other documents as requested.

Similarly, the counsel of ADC and Mr Sam Kargbo also drew the attention of the tribunal on the issues of the documents as they were yet to receive the documents.

Counsel to INEC, Mr Isiyaka Dikko, told the tribunal that he would consult the legal Officer of INEC to see that they provide them with all the documents to prosecute their cases.

Earlier, Justice Mohammed said that if they had followed the due process, there was no reason for parties not to be served as ruled by the tribunal one month ago.

He advised INEC to ensure they supply all the necessary documents for all the parties to move forward.

The Chairman adjourned the tribunal sitting to Friday June 26, and ordered INEC to expedite action and supply parties with all documents requested.
