Glasgow Commonwealth Games: Nigeria takes Gold Count to 2 as Australia continues Dominance

Nigeria’s Oluwatoyin Adesanmi and Obioma Okoli claimed the women’s 63kg Group A gold and silver medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games respectively after lifting a joint total weight of 207kg on Sunday.

Both took the country’s medal tally to 6 ; 2 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze – on Day four of the 20th edition of the Games. Nigeria now ranks ninth in the medals table

Australia continues to lead at the games with 26 gold and 73 medals overall. England follows in second place with 23 gold medals and 57 medals in total. Hosts Scotland are consistent in third place with 11 gold and 30 medals.

South Africa is seventh with 5 gold and 18 medals in total and Kenya occupies the number 10 spot with 2 gold medals and 5 medals in total.
