Gambia appoints first female governor

Gambian government on Thursday in Banjul announced the appointment of Mrs Aminta Hydara as its first female governor.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Mrs Hydara was appointed governor of the West Coast Region by the Gambian President Yahya Jammeh.

Before her new appointment, Hydara was working at the Kanifing Municipal Council as ward councilor

She replaced Alhagie Sanneh who has been redeployed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government.
