FUNAAB Robbery Cases: Ogun CP deploys teams to affected communities
The attention of the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali,has been drawn to the incessant robbery cases at major students communities ajoinning the Federal University of Agriculture,Alabata ,Abeokuta in Odeda Local Givernment Area of Ogun State.
The Commissioner of Police ,who was duly informed of these robbery cases that have been affecting the students and dwellers of these communities,by a letter sent to his office by the authority of the Federal University of Agriculture and complaint a received from the Students Union Leaders of the school,has taken drastic measures to tackle the problem,which is embarrassing.
CP Abdulmajid Ali has ordered the Area commander Abeokuta Metropolis, ACP Presley Dode to personally lead teams of police operatives to the affected communities to monitor, access and deploy the police operatives including men from the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Anti Robbery Teams of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department,State Intelligence Bureau,Odeda and Obantoko Divisions,to embark on constant raid and patrol of the areas. The Police Boss has also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Department of Criminal Investiagtion and Intelligence of the Command DCP Shina Olukolu to unravel the incessant robbery cases recorded and bring the perpetrators to book with immediate effect.
The affected communities out of twenty-nine(29) communities in the area include Oluwo-Kesi,Harmony,Ife-Olu and Ilupeju,all are densely populated by students of the federal university of Agriculture Abeokuta along Alabata Road Abeokuta in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Commissioner of Police has also directed the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi to immediately liaise with the Students Union Leaders in the sch and other students communities in Ogun State through the Police/Students Forum,created by the police command,to deliberate on possible way forward and strategies to be adopted to forestall such incidences in students areas.
The Commissioner of Police therefore assures students and dwellers of these affected communities and other communities in the state of adequate security of lives and property with more attention on the students. He promises to set out anti crime mechanisms that will stimulate effective policing of the areas.
