FRSC secures helicopters to rescuing accident victims – Chidoka
Federal Road Safety Commission on Wednesday said that it had secured some helicopters to evacuate accident victims to hospital for urgent medical attention.
The Corps Marshal , Mr Osita Chidoka, unfolded the new initiative at an air rescue demonstration in Girin junction, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Chidoka said the helicopters would complement the 23 ambulance points on some major highways in parts of the country in attending promptly to crash victims.
He said the commission had entered into agreement with some petroleum companies for the use of helicopters in their fleet during such emergencies.
“The FRSC is committed to reducing the impact of road accidents on victims,’’ he said.
Chidoka, however, pointed out that not all road accident victims required air ambulance rescue, stressing that only in critical cases would the services of the helicopters be requested.
