Former X-Factor Contestant Found Dead in California Home
Former X-Factor contestant, American singer and member of five-piece girl group G.R.L, Simone Battle has been found dead in her Hollywood home.
The 25-year-old was found by her father in her home on Friday. Though the cause of death is still unclear and unconfirmed, reports suggest the singer may have taken her own life.
Battle rose to prominence in 2011 after an appearance on the US version of X Factor, during which she made it through to the final 17. After her elimination from the competition, she released her own song and then joined a girl group called G.R.L. The group featured on rapper Pitbull’s song Wild Wild Love earlier this year.
A statement on the band’s Facebook page read: “Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart. We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”
Celebrities especially X Factor judges, Cheryl Cole, LA Reid, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell, have been posting tributes to Battle on social media since news of her death broke.
