Former Presidential Spokesman, Abati Nominated as PDP Gubernatorial Running Mate
Spokesman of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been nominated as the gubernatorial running mate of the Peoples Democratic party in Ogun State. Checks by NigerianEcho revealed that Abati is running with Mr. Adeleke Shittu, who is flying the party’s flag as the gubernatorial candidate of PDP in the 2019 election.
The party which has been in a protracted crisis is divided into two factions. One faction is headed by Sikirulah Ogundele and is financed by Oladipupo Adedibu, the son of Lotto merchant, Chief Kensington Adebutu. Oladipupo Adebutu is representing Remo Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. The other is headed by Bayo Dayo and is loyal to Prince Buruju Kashamu, the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District.
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, accepted the list of the candidates of Bayo Dayo faction on account of a Court judgement which recognised the faction loyal to Kashamu.
The former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel also emerged the Senatorial candidate for Ogun East.
