Foreign intervention in Libya condemned
Talks between Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi focused on the situation in Libya and the need to support the newly elected Parliament in the country.
Saudi intelligence chief Prince Khaled bin Bandar, Saudi Ambassador to Egypt Ahmed Qattan and the Foreign Ministry’s media director, Osama Al-Nuqali, attended the talks.
Ehab Badawi, spokesman of the Egyptian presidency, emphasized his country’s stance on Libya and said efforts must be made to stabilize the country before it drifts into the hands of terrorists. “President El-Sissi has denounced foreign intervention in Libya,” Badawi said, adding that Cairo would do everything it can to protect its national interests.
The president also stressed the need to strengthen Arab cooperation in all areas, especially to fight terrorism in order to bolster regional security and restore peace and stability to Syria and Iraq. Global efforts to defeat terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria and measures to restore security and stability in the Middle East were discussed at the meeting.
“The talks between President El-Sissi and Prince Saud covered major developments in the Middle East, as well as inter-Arab relations,” said Eadding that the talks focused on the threat posed by IS.
