Following Fayose’s Footsteps, Governor Aliyu calls for Resignation of PDP Leaders
Niger state governor, Babangida Aliyu has urged leaders of Peoples Democratic Party to heed Governor Fayose’s call to emulate British political leaders, who resigned after leading their party to defeat in Thursday’s election.
The governor was speaking in Dutse, Jigawa State, at the inauguration of a township road named after the then ‘G7 Governors’ by Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.
He said: “It is unfortunate that people had to be called to resign. The leaders are supposed to voluntarily resign their positions for the loss at the just concluded general elections. It is unfair that they are threatening to form a factional PDP because they were asked to resign.”
He said the british party leaders has shown qualities of morality and principle in their actions, calling on the PDP leaders to emulate them.
He further went on to commend Governor Lamido for his vision and dedication to unity.
