Over 50 families have been displaced in Orihionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State by flood.

A member of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Ogierhiakhi (PDP-Oriohiomwon) made this known on Tuesday in Benin, during plenary session of the Assembly.

According to him, the flood sacked the community due to poor construction of the drainage system.

“Due to the shallow and narrow nature of the drainage system, the flood water flowed into peoples’ homes and displaced more than 50 families.”

The House at session urged the state Commissioner for Works to intervene and ensure the repair of drainage.

It also asked relevant agencies to provide relief materials to the affected families.

The House thereafter constituted a three-man ad hoc committee led by Abdulrazak Momoh (PDP- Etsako West 1) to visit the community to ascertain the level of destruction.
