FIFA Reinstates Maigari as NFF President
World governing body for football, FIFA, has overturned the impeachment of Nigeria Football Federation president, Aminu Maigari.
In a letter signed by FIFA’s Deputy Secretary General, Markus Kattner, the Federation stated that Maigari must be allowed to preside over the upcoming NFF congress.
“The NFF Congress will exercise its sovereign power through the electoral process which shall be open to everybody and managed by the electoral committees elected by the Congress in their entirety.
“Furthermore, we advise you that President Maigari must preside over the NFF Congress on 26 August.”
Eight members of the executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) signed the document of Maigari’s impeachment on July 24 with the elections into the board fixed for August 26.
But with FIFA’s ruling, Maigari will now head the General Congress that is expected to convene in Abuja.
