FG, OGSG partner on river basin project to boost water supply

Ogun State Government in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources is set to end water shortage in all the River Basins in the State by embarking on a comprehensive water scheme that will boost the supply of water when actualised Governor Ibikunle Amosun while playing host to the Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Sulaiman Adamu in his Okemosan Office, Abeokuta, appreciated the Minister andhis team for visiting the State first, on a special assessmenttour of Federal Government dams across the Country.
Governor Amosun said water is very crucial to socio-economic and industrial development of any country,explaining that Federal Government urgent interventionin revamping all the river basins would help put theprojects back to work and serve their primary purpose.
Amosun explained further that the State Government haddone a lot in tackling water challenges and supply ofpotable water through the township water scheme project,assuring the Minister of the State readiness to partnerwith the Federal Government in order to ensure that Owiwi, Ota and Oyan Dams are functional.
He said thepartnership would complement the State Water Schemeand also boost its youth employment initiative inagriculture.
The Minister, on his part said Federal Ministry of WaterResources was poised at ensuring that all River Basinsacross the country are inspected to ascertain theirchallenges, saying that the purpose for establishing theRiver Basin Project must be realised considering the hugeamount of money invested in them.
He was optimistic that the partnership with the Ogun StateGovernment would yield desired results.Meanwhile, the State Governor also received the Ministerof Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi and his specialteam of Engineers set up by the Federal Executive Councilto assess all road constructions among other projects beingclaimed to have been done by the South-West Governors.
The Minister, while addressing Press men in Abeokuta saidhis mission in Ogun was to confirm all the Federal roadsdone by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration.
He commended the efforts of the State Governmentonconstruction of roads, bridges, model schools amongothers, describing them as legacy projects that would notonly stand the test of time but improve the standard ofliving of the people and attract huge investmentopportunities.
The former Governor of Rivers State and his teaminspected, Sapon bridge, Sapon Model Shopping Mall, Itokubridge, Iyana Mortuary bridge, Femi and Dotun Oyewole Model School, Kobape Sagamu bridge, among others.
