Federal government declares May 2 public holiday

Nigeria government has declared Monday, May 2 a national public holiday to commemorate the 2016 Workers’ Day celebration.
Nigeria’s minister of Interior, Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau who announced this in a statement on behalf of the government also congratulated Nigerian workers for “their resilience, hard work and commitment to the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari, despite current challenges.”
The permanent secretary of the ministry of Interior, Bassey Akpanyung who signed the statement on behalf of the minister, also enjoined the workers to continue to support the president in fight against corruption.
The minister further urged the workers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.
