Federal Character Commission To Sanction MDAs ~ HON. AKINLADE
A former Chairman of House of Reps Committee on Science and Technology and the Federal Commissioner representing Ogun state at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Abuja, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq AKINLADE on Tuesday during his visit to the State Office of the Commission at Abeokuta, Ogun State threatened to sanction ministries and agencies.
Akinlade who was received by the State Coordinator, Mr. Ademuyiwa Adedotun Adeniran said the FCC has resolved at its plenary to deal with those agencies and Ministries that do not comply with the principle of justice, equity and fairness in the distribution of social amenities and infrastructures.
Mr. Adeniran in his opening remark lamented the lack of synergy between the commission and the state government, particularly in the area of monitoring the compliance with the guidelines and formula in the employment and provision of Socio-economic amenities.
Akinlade promised to use his closeness with the Ogun State Governor and government to ensure a good working relationship, as the State stands to benefit more when there’s mutual understanding. He further regretted the poor condition of the Ogun State Liason office.
Akinlade said “As part of FCC’s new initiatives, the commission has commenced the audit of nominal roles of some selected MDAs to ascertain, monitor and enforce compliance with the principles of the Federal character.
“The board would ensure equity and fairness in areas of employment opportunities, distribution of socio- economic and infrastructural facilities to address the issue of marginalization, inbalancing and agitations for restructuring by various federating units.
“The commission will not hesitate to sanction any Agency or MDAs that fails to comply with the principles of Federal Character in the composition of their personnels at various levels.”
He charged the Staff to remain focused and do their job without fear or favour
Hon Akinlade assured all that he would ensure that Ogun State benefits more from the federal employments, social and infrastructural facilities from the central.
