Fayose, Ekiti APC trade Words over Alleged Plans to receive Arrears for Unfinished First Term
The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of awarding himself N720 million as arrears of his first tenure as governor before he was impeached on October 16, 2006 by the then Ekiti State House of Assembly.
According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, who released a statement on Thursday, the governor intends to pay himself arrears the unfinished term although workers and pensioners in the state are currently owed by the state government.
The party said the governor had also cancelled the N5,000 social security scheme paid to 20,000 elderly Ekiti people by former Governor Kayode Fayemi’s administration and refused to pay traditional rulers for five months while also refusing to pay gratuity to retired workers since he assumed office.
Governor Fayose, however, replied the accusations in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, describing it as false and ridiculous.
