Fayose calls for Suspension of Obasanjo from PDP
The Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has urged the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party to suspend former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, like it did the party’s former chairman, Bamanga Tukur.
Fayose’s speech came just a day after five PDP governors visited Obasanjo on Thursday in a move to pacify him after he criticised President Jonathan for his lack of positive impact in the country.
Fayose, who said the visit was “unwarranted, unnecessary and uncalled for”, also said that the party must stop condoning indiscipline and that nobody should be treated as being bigger than the party.
He also said the party stalwart deserves no respect and that visiting Obasanjo to placate him would encourage other members of the party to openly disrespect the President.
He said: “Have you ever heard a former president of the United States openly abusing a sitting president of the country? Does it mean that former USA president, Bill Clinton agreed with all the policies of George W. Bush and the incumbent president, Barack Obama?
“Obasanjo is behaving unpresidential and he must be told to respect himself.”
