Fayemi To Speak At PR Consultant’s Lecture

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi will on Thursday, September 19, 2013 speak at the maiden edition of the annual Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN) Gold Medal Lecture. The event, which will be presided over by Professor Emevwo Biakolo, Dean of the School of Media and Communication at the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, will hold at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

NigerianEcho, the body disclosed that Governor Kayode Fayemi will be speaking on the theme, Imperatives of Policy Communication in Deepening Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria. “We have elected to have Governor Fayemi speak on this subject because Ekiti State is raising the bar of excellence in the area of policy communication and we do believe his profound thoughts will serve as a compass not only to his peers at the state level but also to the federal and local governments alike. We are confident his thoughts will challenge government at all levels to embrace International best practices and employ the services of professionals so as to better the policy communication processes if we must as a nation deepen democracy and good governance. ”

The PRCAN Annual Public Relations Gold Medal Lecture is in furtherance of the association’s commitment to the development of good governance in Nigeria through public relations services. “We will continue to conduct gap analysis and use the platform of the annual PRCAN Gold Medal Lecture as our strategic intervention to offer creative solutions to challenging governance issues and public affairs.”

Discussants will include Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi, Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Mr. Femi Adesina, President, Nigerian Guild of Editors and Mr. Nn’emeka Maduegbuna, former President of the PRCAN. Other distinguished guests will include State Commissioners for Information, the leadership of several professional and industry groups as well as educational institutions offering communications and allied studies.

The association further disclosed that “PRCAN seeks to grow a bigger, better association focused on professionalism, respect for the law, capacity development and proper institutional structures.”

PRCAN groups together full service public relations agencies certified to offer consulting services in various areas of public relations, by the enabling Nigerian Institute of Public Relations Act 16 of 1990 and Bye Law No 3 of the same act.

The Association provides industry benchmarking, training, accreditation of firms whilst ensuring adherence to professional ethics and conduct.
