Fayemi Honours Moremi Ekiti With A Cancer Diagnostic Centre
Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, JKF, the Governor of Ekiti State has said early detection of cancer would ameliorate the suffering of women that are afflicted with the scourge. JKF made this statement while commissioning a Cancer Diagnostic Centre built in memory of Late Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka , the immediate past Deputy Governor of the State who died as a result of her battle against cervical cancer.
Moremi Ekiti, as the late Deputy Governor was called by the people of Ekiti lost a protracted battle against cancer. The Governor at the inauguration of the centre said the facility would provide early screening, diagnosis and treatment of various forms of cancer and other chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension.
“I embarked on this project purposely because chest and cervix cancer killed our amiable deputy governor. The two cancers rank as major killers of women in our society and they are no respecter of age or social status.
“In our thinking as government, we appreciate that early diagnosis and effective modality of treatment will ensure that our women no longer die prematurely “, Fayemi said.
