Fashola warns against Religious Violence during Elections
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has advised Nigerian Christians and Muslims to avoid being used by politicians to fester violence among themselves.
Fashola, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Christian Religious Matters, Rev. Adefunmilayo Akitoye—Buraimo, said in his address to the 53rd Annual Synod of the Methodist Diocese of Lagos on Friday, that religious discord should be avoided during the forthcoming elections.
He said, “We as a government see our religious communities as partners in governance because they are saddled with the responsibility of admonishing the congregation to be law abiding and obey laws of God as contained in the holy writ.”
He said Nigeria would be better if we all put into practice what we read in the holy books
