Ex-Coach of Super Falcons, Ntiero Effiom, dies
Former head coach of the Super Falcons, Ntiero Effiom, has died.
Effiom’s death was confirmed by the Cross River State Commissioner of Sports, Patrick Ugbe, who said that he died at his hometown of Akpabuyo near Calabar in the early hours of Wednesday.
“I was informed that he took ill a day after the Nigeria match against Congo in Calabar and was taken to hospital, where he died,” Ugbe said.
Effiom was the coach of the Super Falcons from 2004-2007, when he led the team to FIFA Women’s World Cup. He was also the coach of Cross River based Pelican Stars, before being appointed coach of the Super Falcons.
