Emir Sanusi Moves To Palace
Suleiman Bello
Emir of Kano, Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who has been operating from the state government House since he was turbaned returned to his Palace on Friday evening.
The Emir who led prayers to mark the 7th Day Prayer for the repose of the soul of the late Emir Ado Bayero before he moved to the palace preached peace and unity among Muslims, Christians and all Nigerians irrespective of culture, religion and ethnic backgrounds.
Emir Sanusi’s movement to the traditional palace according to a government source came after Sultan of Sokoto and many other traditional heavy weights had intervened in the feud between the state government and presidency over the appointment of Sanusi, who has been a torn in the flesh of the ruling party and presidency.
His subjects cheered and jubilated as he waved to them through the roof of his official Rolls Royce Car that drove him from Government House to the Palace.
As part of the Palace rituals, he was given a new name—Mahammad Sanusi.
As the tradition dictates, before the new Emir made his way into the Palace, walls were broken and after passing through it, it was instantly amended by Palace Guards, a ritual which attracted traditional chanting and songs from his subjects.
After the breaking of wall rituals, the Emir rode in his White-Horse and entered through the Kofar Kudu where gun shots were fired and traditional trumpets blown to welcome him.
On entering the inner chamber, he headed straight to the grave yards where he prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed Emirs.
