Ekiti Boils As Suspected Supporters of Fayose Set Fayemi’s office on fire.
Police in Ekiti are having hectic time suppressing violence which broke out Friday morning in Ado Ekiti, the Capital of Ekiti State. Suspected supporters of the Governor Elect, Ayodele Fayose, have reportedly set the campaign office of the outgoing Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on fire.
Trouble began on Thursday when Fayose was reported to have led his supporters to beat Justice John Adeyeye, who is presiding over a case against Fayose. Fayose is being sued by a group called E’ Eleven on his eligibility to stand for election having been impeached as Governor in 2006. Reports have it that Fayose personally led an assault on Justice Adeyeye whose clothes were torn and was only saved by the combined efforts of Police and soldiers.
However, one of the thugs that was with Fayose at the disruption of the court proceedings on Thursday, Omolafe Aderiye, immediate past chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, was reportedly shot last night.
Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP defeated the incumbent Governor, Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the June 21 election.
