Effective Policing: Ogun PCRC Organizes a Day Seminar
The Police Community Relations Committe, Abeokuta Area Command Ogun State, had a day interactive seminar on Tuesday at Daktad Hotel and Suites Abeokuta Ogun State tagged ” PCRC: A VERITABLE TOOL FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT”
The seminar, which was declared open by the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Alex Opara, was witnessed by prominent stakeholders including the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egba land, Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, represented by chairman Alake Regency, Agura of Gbagura Oba Halidu Olaloko, heads of security agencies, the chairman PCRC Abeokuta Area Command, Arch Samson Popoola, other PCRC members, various groups and unions, and police personnel drawn from all police formations in the command.
Three resource persons, who delivered papers on various topics, included DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who spoke on “PCRC AND POLICE : A MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE?,Barrister Mutiu Agboke, who spoke on “POLICE RAIDS, ARREST AND DETENTION, THE CITIZENS RIGHTS” and Mr Soji Ganzalo, the PRO Vigilante Service of Ogun State, who spoke on “VIGILANTE SERVICE MIDWIFING COMMUNITY POLICING IN NIGERIA,THE OGUN STATE EXAMPLE”.
While declaring the seminar open, the Commissioner of Police who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Alex Opara, charged the PCRC to be focused and uphold its responsibilities for which it was established many years back by the Nigeria Police Force. And encouraged police personnel to accord respect to respected and responsible members of the PCRC across the state as they are reliable catalysts the police need to achieve effective policing of our society.
The Chairman PCRC in the state, Chief Mrs Adesola Adebutu seized the opportunity to encourage members of the PCRC in the state to brace up and support police in all ramifications to achieve it’s goals.
She however promised on behalf of the state PCRC to improve in their dealings with the police and collaborate in having robust intelligence driven policing in the state.
The state PCRC,under the chairmanship of Chief Mrs Adesola Adebutu,also promised to organise same across board in all divisional headquarters and area command headquarters in Ogun State with a view to assiting the police train all concerned stake holders towards having effective policing of the state.
