The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has moved against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Danladi Yakubu Umar, and some of his officials over allegations of massive fraud.
The commission, acting on petitions from aggrieved staff of the tribunal, contractors and top public officials, summoned Umar and some of his officials to appear before its operatives for interrogation or be declared wanted.
The code of conduct tribunal boss’ summon, which is the second in two months, sources in EFCC revealed to NigerianEcho was premised on facts already available to the anti-graft agency and also to clean an establishment set up to checkmate abuse of office by government officials.
“We were taken aback about what have been established against somebody appointed to checkmate corrupt government officials. This man is having a fat account he may not be able to defend”. A source in EFCC said.
However, as at the time of this report, NigerianEcho was unable to confirm if the Code of Conduct Tribunal chairman has answered the EFCC call
