EFCC Arraigns Man for Fraud

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday arraigned one Okoh Lawrence Nnali (aka Lawrence Oladele) before Justice S.S. Ogunsanya of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja on one count charge bordering on obtaining goods by false pretext.
The victim, an American, according to EFCC had alleged that sometime in February this year, he advertised his Laptop valued at $400.00 USD (Four Hundred US Dollars) on the Amazon market place and was contacted by the suspect who purportedly sent him a message from Pay pal indicating payment, and directing him to ship the laptop to Nigeria.
Following the directive, the victim allegedly sent the ASUS Vivo laptop to one Lawrence Oladele of No. 33 Fatai Itire Street, Surulere, Lagos. It as after the shipment that he discovered that the Pay Pal account used for payment was fake.
When the charge was read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
In view of the plea of the defendant, prosecution counsel, Israel Akande asked the court to fix a date for trial.
The defence counsel, Nicolas Chukwuma Okafor prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable him file an application for bail.
Justice Ogunsanya ordered the defendant to be remanded in the EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application and adjourned the case to October 13, 2015 for trial.
