ECOWAS meets with President Jonathan, Buhari to ensure Credible Elections
Executives of the Economic Community of West African States on Monday, held meetings with the presidential candidates of the main political parties ahead of Saturday’s elections.
The Chairman of ECOWAS, President John Mahama of Ghana and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Desire-Kadre Ouedraogo, met with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja and was set to meet with Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) later in the day at a different venue in the nation’s capital.
According to reports, the delegates will also meet with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
The meetings are to help the commission have the candidates commit to free and fair elections.
