Dunga Succeeds Scolari as Brazil Coach
Brazil has named Dunga as their manager for the second time on Tuesday, two weeks after Luiz Felipe Scolari resigned following their 7-1 defeat by Germany in the World Cup semi-finals.
50-year-old Dunga captained Brazil to their fourth world title in 1994, and was last in charge of the national team in 2010 when he was sacked for failing to take them beyond the World Cup quarter-finals in South Africa.
Dunga, who played for a host of clubs in Brazil, Japan, Germany and Italy, declared that he was ‘immensely happy to be back’ upon his re-appointment.
He was appointed as Brazil manager for the first time in 2006 but although he won both the 2007 Copa América and the 2009 Confederations Cup, his team was knocked out off the 2010 World Cup after losing 2-1 to Holland in the quarter-finals.
