Dokubo to Jonathan: You Are Wrong, Buhari’s Life Not More Important Than Others
The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteers Force (NDPVF), Mujahid Asari Dokubo has criticised President Goodluck Jonathan for saying Nigeria would have been in turmoil if former Head of State, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, had been killed when his convoy was targeted by terrorists.
He described the statement as unnecessary, noting that the President should not have placed the life of Gen Buhari above other Nigerians that had been killed by the insurgents, Boko Haram.
Jonathan had made the statement when he received Muslims resident in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who paid him sallah homage in his residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“I do not work for Jonathan. What the President said was wrong. The life of Buhari is not more important than 87 people that died in that blast,” Asari Dokubo said, while addressing newsmen in Abuja.
He used the occasion to debunk insinuation that he paid the mastermind of the attack N5 million to kill Gen Buhari, saying that he would lead a protest in Port Harcourt for the arrest of the former leader from next week.
He spoke further, “I did not pay anybody to carry out any assassination attempt on Buhari. I do not have anything against him. He is not a threat.
“That means Buhari is the commander-in-chief of Boko Haram in the north. His allies came out and made inflammatory statements during the 2011 elections,” he said.
It would be recalled that there were twin bomb explosions last week in Kaduna metropolis that targeted Gen Buhari and notable Islamic preacher, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, leaving scores dead and several others injured.
The insurgents, Boko Haram have intensified deadly attacks in the north of late, the latest being four attacks in two days in the ancient City of Kano, carried out by young female bombers.
