Hon. Speaker, Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has condemned multiple bomb blasts which killed 54 people in Maiduguri on Sunday.
This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by Mr Turaki Hassan, Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Speaker.
According to the statement, the speaker condoled with the families of the victims and prayed for quick recovery of those injured in the incident.
“by targeting soft spots, the insurgents are now desperate and out to instill fear in the minds of Nigerians even when they are facing defeat in the hands of the military”, he said and urged Nigerians to remain resolute in their belief in the ability of the security agencies to defeat the insurgents in the next few months.
Dogara called on Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for restoration of peace in the North-East and tasked the security agencies to continue with the onslaught on the insurgents until terrorism was defeated.
